Rallye Radio

Thankfully there’s not much “Radio Ga-ga” on Sunseeker Rally FM, the event’s own radio station. With a team of reporters who have real, in-depth knowledge of the sport, such as Alyson & Innes Marlow, Nicola Parker & Mark James what you’ll hear is informed comment.

Satellite links, the latest communications gizmos and good old BT wiring make sure that the information and interviews from stage finishes are relayed back to the studio based in the heart of the Canford service area.

From here, whilst the Presenters anchor the programme, Aly Marlow is able to wander the service park and talk to the leading drivers and those making the news during the day. A mobile reporter keeps a watchful eye on problems and is able to offer a fast response reaction, heading to breakdowns and interviewing the unlucky crew from the roadside.

“Our first priority is news and information. If you’re on the stages you want to know what is going on, who is doing what and the leader board. But we’re also keen to make it entertaining, so that means a bit of music here and there, some general car news, motorsport news etc. Effectively we’re trying to create a rounded “real radio station” sound, rather than just a lot of commentary about the event.” said Programme Controller Gary Champion

“I think the key to Sunseeker Rally FM’s success is twofold” says Rally Director Rick Smith. “It’s important that the people working on it know their stuff and thankfully they do. They’re all experienced presenters and reporters, but they’ve all been there, either competing, or reporting on rallies for years and I think that knowledge comes across to the listeners, it’s an important tool to engage.

” Broadcasting from Friday through until Sunday Sunseeker Rally FM is the only radio station in the area to concentrate its coverage on the event. Broadcasting on 87.7fm and on the event’s website…..
