ROVER TICKET FOR THE METROS!…

As plans for Rallye Sunseeker, the opening round of the 2008 MSA Gravel Rally Championship, move into top gear, the organisers of the Bournemouth-based event have launched an initiative to attract as many MG Metro 6R4s as possible.

Sunseeker Clerk of the Course, Rick Smith, is keen to hear from current 6R4 owners as he attempts to put together the largest-ever gathering of the iconic car. “In 1987 Malcolm Wilson won the fore-runner of Rallye Sunseeker, the Citroen Winter Rally, in a 6R4 and then, the following year, Austin Rover organised the ‘Super Challenge', a championship for clubman-specification versions and we want to commemorate those two milestones in the history of the car.”

Metro 6R4 owners can become involved in 2008 Rallye Sunseeker in three different ways – by entering the rally itself, performing demonstration runs or by taking part in a display at Somerley Park on Saturday 23 rd February.

Meanwhile, 2008 sees another anniversary as Sunseeker International celebrates its 10 th consecutive year as headline sponsor of the rally.
