RALLYE PEOPLE
This page gives details of the the people running the Rallye . There are more than you think but we'll get started with the man at the top. Not only is Rick Smith event Clerk of the Course which is a commited legal responsibility but he's also the indefatigable organiser of the event itself. We also take this opportunity to thank the hundreds of unpaid volunteer marshals without whom there never would be a Rallye Sunseeker. |

Chief Marshal – Matt Fowle - mattmdfowle@yahoo.co.uk Rallye Sunseeker requires around 1000 volunteers to run. 750 of these are stage marshals and it is the chief marshal's job to recruit these people. This starts by finding a stage commander for each and they will normally supply their own start crew from their club. I will then find a finish crew for each stage and the marshals to man the post with in the stage. Many of these come from the south's motor clubs.
Matt started competing in road rallies in the 1980's and by the early 90's had moved on to forest events and the Peugeot challenge; he won his class on the BTRDA championship in 99 and 2000. For the last few years he has mainly done Enduro events - wining the 2004 Lombard rally. A total of 250 rallies from national B up to WRC, at minus 30 degrees in Norway to fair to hot in Barbados . As well as driving he also navigated the winning car in the 2004 HRCR championship. He joined the Rallye Sunseeker team as Chief Marshal in 2003 having been a stage commander for a number of years.

During the event, Rob will be on hand around the Service Area Regroup Controls. Working alongside the CLO's, Rob investigates and deals with any judicial issues or competitor queries that may arise. “It is always our intention to deal with any problems as soon as they occur in a professional, fair and even-handed manner to avoid unnecessary delays and confusion at the end of the day's sporting activity”. Rob's final duties involve providing the Stewards with the requisite pre- and post event documentation.
Rob started competing as a road rally navigator for his father, Derek, at the earliest possible age of 14, moving up to stage rally co-driving, marshalling and organising at 16.
