The Sunseeker Motorfair at Somerley Park is always a hit with spectators and this year - the eighth - will be no exception.

Our sponsors at Somerley Park, Turbo Dynamics Ltd., welcome families and rally enthusiasts to enjoy a fun packed day. The location of Motorfair enables spectators to enjoy the exhibits and displays of classic cars between watching the two special stages through the park at 09.55 and 13.50 on Saturday 28th February.

The two special stages are only part of the spectacle. During the break between rally runs we have amassed a display of Metro 6R4’s. Their drivers will be demonstrating this iconic car on a shortened rally course so that spectators can enjoy the sights and sounds that only a 6R4 can exhibit. There’s also the ever popular and very exciting Pirelli Rally simulator. And, if all that whets your appetite, there’s an opportunity to experience the real thing in a 200 bhp Pirelli MG ZR rally car driven on a gravel track.

There is easy access to the main display arena and the three different spectator areas within the park all offer ideal opportunities to watch the competitors in action. With catering facilities, toilets and plenty of static displays this makes for a great venue for families. If you haven’t already purchased your Souvenir Programme now is your chance. The 49th Bournemouth Air Scout Group will be selling programmes and manning a display promoting scouting in the region. Please remember, though, while this is an ideal family venue, no dogs are permitted, so please leave your pets at home.

Among those exhibiting at Motorfair 2009 are:

• Rally championship sponsor Pirelli are again in evidence at Motorfair.  The rally simulator and Pirelli Pro Rally Team P Zero MG ZR’s will be on hand to recreate the thrills of rallying. To find the specially created special stage, cross from the main arena; you’ll get an unforgettable ride in the co-driver’s seat and a souvenir photo to remember the experience.

 

• Hampshire Fire & Rescue and the Road Safety Unit will be in attendance giving demonstrations and advice.

• Bournemouth University are here as well if you want to find out about further education opportunities locally, including those linked to motor sport.

 

• Go Motorsport are also exhibiting so you can find out how to stop watching and start doing motor sport

As well as stage sponsor Turbo Dynamics, the Dorset based firm which supplies cutting edge and bespoke units to some of the fastest competition cars in the country, trade exhibitors include:

• Autoglym who will be demonstrating a selection of car care products
• Auto Terminal/Import Direct providing exotic to mid range sports cars. Today they will have 10 Mitsubishi and Subaru cars on show.

 

• Bournemouth Helicoptors will be displaying its Robinson 44 so why not book a trial lesson.

• Brit Assist, the renowned roadside assistance experts for UK tourists holidaying on the continent who also offer a highly praised support package for classic car events, tours and classic rallies.

 

• Car Crazy Promotions selling superb scale models of race and rally cars

• Dorset Farmers Market selling a selection of local produce.

 

• Northern Cyprus Tourist Board are also here to tempt you to think of that well-deserved but surprisingly inexpensive summer holiday to the jewel of the Mediterranean.

• Poole Car Centre, supported by Mitsubishi UK, exhibits the current Mitsubishi range and the new EVO X race car

 

• Rally Retail, for the latest in team clothing and merchandising

• Southgate (Blandford) Subaru exhibits the latest Subaru range.

 

• Three Counties Motorhomes who supply a variety of vehicles including the two luxurious motorhomes on display today.

Also using Somerley Park to entertain its corporate guests is Hydrex , sponsors of Mitsubishi Evolution Challenge front-runner Nik Elsmore. The Hydrex unit can be found next to the Rallye Sunseeker hospitality marquee catering for VIP guests.

Other attractions include Coles Fairground rides for children and the VK hot-air balloon.

If you’re feeling hungry after all the excitement then don’t worry -  Premier Food Court have a variety of foods and beverages to suit the hungriest of spectators. Or why not try a VK Energy drink – the official drink of Rallye Sunseeker. These are available from the double-decker bus located in the main arena.
